Dr. Hall's Medical Mission Trip
Terry Hall MD, a member of the Great Plains faculty, has just returned from a medical mission trip to Swaziland, a small African country, which now has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world.
The pandemic of HIV/AIDS is devastating Swaziland. This small kingdom's life expectancy has dropped from 56 years to 32 years. Over the next decade, AIDS will be projected to kill over a quarter of that country's population.
Dr. Hall is involved with writing and implementing training programs for community health workers in Swaziland to combat the AIDS pandemic. He is currently writing standard treatment books for children and for adults. These are booklets that are written in simple language and provide guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses in a setting of high HIV prevalence.
Dr. Hall is wroking through the Swaziland Partnership, which involves Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, Bethany First Nazarene Church, Heart to Heart Ministries in Oklahoma City, and Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital in Swaziland.
