Dr. Owens' Singular Accomplishment
Posted by Neal Clemenson MD on 02/20/2009
The American Board of Family Medicine offers Certificates of Added Qualifications (CAQs) to family physicians who have special training and interest in specific areas and who pass a certification examination. Our Associate Director, Tomas Owens MD, recently successfully passed the examination for the CAQ in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He also holds CAQs in Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, and Adolescent Medicine. Erik Tousseau of the ABFM says that in his experience "it is exceptionally rare for a physician to hold this many CAQs (and) the most CAQs I can recall one physician holding (other than Dr. Owens) is three." We are proud to call Dr. Owens one of our own.
