New Duty Hours

We're now two months into the new work hours, and I believe the transition demonstrates the great teamwork at Great Plains. The residents, especially our current chief residents, played the major role in adjusting our call system to accommodate the changes, and only minor tweaks have been necessary so far. Although the changes are unfair to our current upper-level residents, they have each shown true professionalism in taking on their expanded roles, while helping to optimize patient care and maximize the educational experience. The interns' hours are less strenuous, but we're trying to keep them extra busy while we can, preparing them to be role models for next year's interns. No one is particularly happy with the new rules, but we all understand we have no choice and we'll make the best of it. My thanks to everyone on the team for helping to make this work!
