The Match Cometh...

I can't believe it's that time of year again! We've just finished interviewing a record number of applicants, and now comes the challenge of drawing up a rank list. How do we weight scores, class ranks, personalities, letters, hunches, bribes (just kidding!), and the sometimes conflicting recommendations of residents and faculty members? Is there an app for that? Each year we are more experienced with this, but it just doesn't seem to get any easier, and I know it's just as intimidating and frustrating for the applicants. On the other hand, it all seems to come together at the end, as Deidre hits the "enter" button on the NRMP website, and we all wait for some computer to decide everyone's fate.
